The mother and other children survived.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u2022 <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">February 13 \u2013 Budapest was occupied by the Soviets.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u2022 <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">February 16 \u2013 U.S. carrier planes attacked Iwo Jima with napalm. American paratroopers landed on Corregidor.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u2022 <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">February 18 \u2013 The Third Army breached the Siegfried line.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u2022 <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">February 19 \u2013 U.S. Marines landed on Iwo Jima. Fred T. Daylis was appointed the acting principal of Billings Senior High.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u2022 <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">February 21 \u2013 A B-24 from the Spokane Air Base crashed 35 miles southwest of Philipsburg en route to Great Falls. The pilot and copilot died but one crew member parachuted to safety. Donald Ruhl threw himself on a grenade on Iwo Jima, saving 2 other men. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u2022 <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">February 23 \u2013 U.S. Marine <a title=\"Iwo Jima and Louis Charlo\" href=\"http:\/\/garyglynn.com\/wordpress\/iwo-jima-and-louis-charlo\/\">Louis Charlo<\/a> helped raise the first American flag on top of Mt.
