The Heartland Institute recently hosted the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change, subtitled \u201cGlobal Warming is Not A Crisis.\u201d The intent of the conference was clearly aimed at debunking the \u201cmyth\u201d of global warming.<\/p>\n
With presentations like \u201cOceans, Not Carbon Dioxide, Are Driving Climate\u201d by William Gray, and \u201cNature, Not Human Activity, Rules the Climate\u201d by S. Fred Singer, the conference was cleverly designed to downplay the impacts that industrial emissions are having on our climate. Singer, a George Mason University professor who has long railed against \u201cjunk science\u201d showing tobacco smoke causes lung cancer, and sun exposure causes melanoma, is now intent on proving humans are not responsible for climate change. \u201cMost climate change is natural,\u201d he contends. The human contribution is not significant. Therefore, climate change is unstoppable.\u201d In other words, Don\u2019t Worry. Be happy.<\/p>\n
